The hike starts with a cable car ride from Grindelwald to First (25 minutes), the starting point of our adventure. Here, we have incredible open views with high peaks and the glaciers. Before starting our hike, we can try out the Cliff walk, the bridge with its final part stretching 45 meters over the void below, offering spectacular panorama of the mountains and making even the brave hearts beat faster.

It's now time to start hiking uphill towards one of the biggest attractions of the region – Lake Bachalpsee. If we are lucky, we will spot the most famous inhabitants of this area – the alpine marmots. If we are out luck, we will still be able to hear them and see their burrows.  We will also see other mountains such as Reeti (2757m), Faulhorn (2681m) and Schwarzhorn (2928m).

When at the lake, we have time to enjoy the scenery and have a quiet and peaceful time for ourselves. If you're ready to brave the ever-chilly waters of the mountain lake, you will be able to go for a quick dip. The rest of us will happily rest our tired feet in the lake Bachalpsee. There are few facilities such as toilets, benches to sit on and small barbecue area for snacking.

After the break, we restart our hike taking an alternative, less traveled path, to avoid numbers of other tourists. Along the way, we cross small streams and water courses and of course we get to see Swiss cows with famous bells on their necks. We can also admire the mountains surrounding the valley: Wetterhorn (3692m), Schreckhorn (4078m), Eiger (3970m) and Mönch (4107m) - as well as the high and low glaciers.

Before we finish the hike, there is one more stop point at a restaurant, if you would like to have a drink or a snack.

The last part of the hike is in the forest and takes us back to the cable car, to return to Grindelwald (10 minutes ride).
